Teal

Green Wing Teal

Green Wing Teal are native to North America and one of the smallest ducks and do very well in a mixed collection. They nest on the ground in a box or in grasses or ground cover. They lay 5-8 eggs and are incubated for 22-24 days.

 

Blue Wing Teal

Blue Wing Teal are navtive to North America and do very well in a mixed collection. They nest in ground boxes or in natural cover. They lay 6-9 eggs and are incubated for 23-24 days.





 

Cinnamon Teal

Cinnamon Teal are native to North America. They do very well with other birds but will cross breed with Blue Wing Teal. They nest in ground boxes and in natural cover. They lay 7-9 eggs and are incubated for 23-25 days.

 

 

Baikal Teal

Baikal Teal are native to Asia. These birds are one of the most beautiful ducks around. Baikal Teal are ground nesters they will nest in natural cover and in a ground box. They lay 7-9 eggs and are incubated for 24-26 days.




 

 

Falcated Teal

Falcated Teal are native to Asia. They are one of the largest in the teal family but very good in a mixed collection. They nest on the ground in natural cover or in a box. They lay 6-8 eggs and are incubated for 25 days.

 

 

 

Ring Teal 

Ring Teal are native to South America. They are also known as a perching duck they love to be up on boxes or branches. They nest in a elevated nest box. They lay 8-10 eggs and are incubated for 26 days.

 

Hottentot Teal 

Hottentot Teal are native to Africa. Hottentots are the smallest of ducks but can hold there own. They do well in a mixed collection but be careful in cold weather, but I have found they have done well for us here in Michigan. They don't like extreme cold for long periods of time. They nest in a elevated box. They lay 5-7 eggs and are incubated for 25-26 days.

 

 

Silver Teal

Silver Teal are native to South America. They are very similar to the Hottentots and Puna Teal there size is in between these two. They nest both on the ground and in elevated boxes. They lay 6-10 eggs and are incubated for 25 days.

 

 

 

Puna Teal

Puna Teal are native to South America. They do very well in mixed collections and can handle cold weather very well. They nest both on the ground and in elevated boxes. Mine have nested in the same elevated box 4 times in 2 years. They lay 4-6 eggs and are incubated for 24-26 days.

 

 

Chilean Teal 

Chilean Teal are native to South America. They love to be up perching and like to nest in a elevated box. They lay 6-9 eggs and are incubated for 25 days.

 

 

Marbled Teal

Marbled Teal are native to North Africa and the Middle East. They do very well in mixed collections. They nest both on the ground in boxes and natural cover and in elevated boxes. They lay 6-10 eggs and are incubated for 25 days.
